NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive Edwin Day submitted comments on Tuesday to NJ Transit calling on the MTA Metro-North Railroad and NJ Transit to commit to working together to provide more and better commuter rail service to Rockland County and to cover any funding shortfall for Rockland service.
NJ Transit operates Metro-North’s West-of-Hudson service.
“I call upon both NJT and MNR to step forward on this issue starting with eliminating the proposed fare increases for Rockland County’s rail commuters and keeping the 12:45 a.m. Pascack Valley Line departure on the schedule,” Day said.
Day’s comments will be made part of the official public record and will be considered by the NJ Transit Board of Directors prior to implementing any fare increases or service reductions.
