NEW WINDSOR – If you live near Stewart Airport and hear sirens and see emergency vehicles racing to the facility on Saturday morning, don’t panic. It is just a drill.
The emergency response drill will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.
The scenario, an aircraft incident, will have no impact on flight operations, but airline passenger and motorists may see smoke and rescue workers in and around the airport, which straddles parts of the towns of New Windsor and Newburgh.
Participants in the drill will include the New York Air National Guard Fire Department, State Police, Stewart Airport and Jet Blue Airways staff, federal law enforcement agencies, and several mutual aid fire departments and EMS.
