TOWN OF WALLKILL – The manager of the Lowe’s store in the Town of Wallkill was sprayed with a self-defense spray by a man after the suspect and another man argued with the manager who refused to give them a refund on merchandise without a sales receipt.
State Police said the men became argumentative with the manager and made
threats of violence against him before Corey Mansfield, 21, of Chester
pulled out the pocket-sized spray device and hit the manager with what
police said was a chemical or organic substance.
Both men then left the store and tried to elude police by removing the license plates on the vehicle owned by the other suspect, Dylan Burger, 22, of Florida, New York.  Troopers caught the men.
Mansfield was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance not it its original container, disorderly conduct and harassment.  He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of$20,000 cash bail or bond.
Burger was charged with conspiracy and harassment and jailed in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond.
Village of Chester Police assisted State Police in the investigation.
