GOSHEN – A Goshen Central School District
bus driver was arrested Monday morning after the individual failed a random
drug and alcohol test administered by the district.
The driver, who district officials did not identify, was suspended pending
an investigation.
The test was given between morning bus runs.
The district contacted the Goshen Village Police, who charged the driver
with endangering the welfare of a child, driving while ability impaired
and aggravated DWI with a child in a vehicle.
School officials noted that all bus drivers undergo background checks
and fingerprint clearing at the time of hire as required by state law.
Random drug and alcohol tests are administered, unannounced, throughout
the school year.
Superintendent of Schools Daniel Connor said the district’s “first
priority is always the safety and security of our students and staff.”
