GOSHEN – State Police were called
to the Goshen Secure Center Friday evening for what an initial police
radio said was a “large riot.”

All police units in the area were called to the scene at 8:15 p.m. for
a fight involving approximately 45 people.

Two ambulances and emergency services personnel were called to the scene
for injured individuals.

No weapons were reported to be involved.

The facility is operated by the State Office of Children and Family Services.
It serves juvenile offenders, who, while under the age of 16, committed
violent felonies and were convicted and sentenced in adult criminal court.

Depending on the sentence, the youth may remain in the custody of this
office up to the age of 21.

It also houses juvenile delinquents who are under the jurisdiction of
the family court and restrictively placed juvenile delinquents.
