Homeless man charged with stealing charity box from Monsey restaurant

MONSEY – Ramapo Police arrested a man with no known address late Monday night for stealing a charity box containing cash off the counter of a restaurant in Monsey.
Benjamin Pugh, 23, was nabbed near the scene of the 11:05 p.m. incident at the Kosher Castle Restaurant at 43 Route 59. The charity box was also recovered.  Pugh was charged with petit larceny.
Ramapo Police were assisted at the scene by Chaverim of Rockland.
Anyone who may have witnessed the theft or the suspect’s immediate flight from the scene is asked to call Ramapo Police at 845-357-2400.
