MAHOPAC – Fire Thursday morning damaged a 3,500-square-foot home on Fini Drive in Mahopac.

The fire, which remains under investigation, was centered in the basement of the sprawling wood frame home valued at some $850,000, according to Carmel assessors.

Fire damage was contained to the lower level, but the remainder of the home suffered smoke damage.

No injuries were reported to first responders who remained on the scene for five hours.
