KINGSTON – A Saugerties woman is in trouble with the law for allegedly trying to open a line of credit and obtain a credit card under another person’s name without that person knowing about it.
It was brought to the attention of the victim when she received a letter from the First National Bank of Omaha that her credit card application made in her name had been denied.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation which determined that Suzanne Esaine, also known as Suzanne Barton, 46, allegedly impersonated the victim by use of the Internet and used her name, address, and social security number in an attempt to obtain the credit card.
Esaine was charged with criminal impersonation and identity theft, both as misdemeanors.  She was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Kingston City Court.
The victim suffered no financial loss as a result of the incident.
