NYACK – Marine crews will continue working on the foundations for the new Tappan Zee Bridge this week by placing reinforced steel and concrete in the piles, main span pile caps and approach span pile caps in the Hudson River.
Teams will erect formwork for the cast-in-place pier columns, which will eventually support the bridge’s road deck.  Work will also continue on the bridge’s landings at the Rockland and Westchester shorelines.
Demolition will start this week on the former State Police Troop T barracks in Tarrytown. The former facility on South Broadway, which adjoins the former Tappan Zee Bridge maintenance facility, is being removed to facilitate the construction of the new bridge. The State Police and bridge maintenance operations have been moved from Tarrytown to a temporary home near exit 12 in West Nyack until completion of new facilities in Tarrytown in 2018.
