Students from three counties packed the auditorium

HYDE PARK – Over 300 students from schools in Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties gathered at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park on Wednesday for a day-long conference on prevention of childhood diseases.  The event was designed to increase students’ awareness and interest in the life sciences, said Hyde Park Town Supervisor Aileen Rohr.
The conference was held to put focus on the need for continued research and emphasis on studies of the medical sciences among young people to address infant mortality and birth defects, she said.
The March of Dimes held the conference at the FDR facilities to point to
childhood diseases since President Roosevelt suffered from polio.
AT&T was the majo sponsor of the event.
