Federal grants for expanded Westchester, Rockland Early Head Start programs

WASHINGTON – A total of $3.8 million
in new Early Head Start grants have been approved by the US Department
of Health and Human Services for organizations in Westchester and Rockland
counties.

Westchester Community Opportunity Program (WestCOP) received just under
$2.4 million to serve 189 students in child care centers and family daycare
centers in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties. WestCOP will also
receive $185,000 in one-time startup money for their program.

Agency partners include Child Care Council of Westchester, Child Care
Council of Dutchess and Putnam and Family Services of Westchester.

Head Start of Rockland received $1.4 million to support 112 children.
The grant will be used to collaborate with five early childhood providers
in Rockland.
