FISHKILL – A state prisoner, who is
currently incarcerated at the Five Points Correctional Facility on an
unrelated prison sentence, has been charged with an assault that he allegedly
committed while in Fishkill Correctional Facility.

State Police said Robert Whitaker, 59, was charged with felonies of assault
and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with his former housing
in Dutchess County.

It is alleged that he poured boiling water on the neck and back of another
inmate, injuring that man. The incident took place in the summer of 2014.

Whitaker was arraigned in Town of Fishkill Court and returned to Five
Points prison without bail.

He is serving a 25 year to life sentence for a Rockland County murder.
