MONTICELLO – A Livingston Manor man
was sentenced Wednesday in Sullivan County Court to three to nine years
in state prison for a deadly snowmobile crash that occurred in the Village
of Liberty on December 17, 2013.

Alan Hendrickson, 28, previously pled guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter
and misdemeanor operating a snowmobile while intoxicated.

His passenger on the sled, James Cole, 32, of Liberty, was killed when
Hendrickson crashed into a pole while riding at about 9:15 p.m.

Hendrickson’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the incident
was .19 percent.

District Attorney James Farrell said he had a prior conviction for operating
a motor vehicle while intoxicated in 2009 in New Paltz.

“Alcohol and motorized vehicles, of any kind, do not mix and the
results can be deadly as we saw here,” he said. A couple of civilians
came upon the crash before police arrived and aided in the investigation
by detaining and identifying the operator of the snowmobile.
