Probation check leads to drug charge

SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man, who is on probation, is in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond following a probation home check last Thursday. 
The Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team conducted the check on the home of Edward Chardavoyne, Jr., 45, of 76 Pine Grove School Road in the Town of Saugerties after receiving intelligence regarding marijuana trafficking at that location.  A search revealed some nine ounces of marijuana, electronic scales and drug packaging material.
Chardavoyne was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana and several probation violations.
