Bronx man charged with cashing $3,500 in counterfeit checks

WAPPINGER – A Bronx man is accused of cashing several counterfeit checks at the Tompkins Mahopac Bank branches in LaGrange and East Fishkill.
State Police at Wappinger said Byron Kempson, 29, allegedly cashed the forged checks totaling some $3,547.  He was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail or $80,000 bond.
