ELLENVILLE – The first session of Ulster
County’s “Ellenville Million” Task Force that wants
to know what is on the minds of Ellenville and Wawarsing area residents
will be held this Thursday evening.
A total of $1 million in state funds will be used to develop new business
in that area of the county, said County Executive Michael Hein, who created
the task force.
“These dollars are really designed to impact projects. It’s not important to me whether it is five projects or 15 projects,” Hein said.  “I want to make sure that the community has an opportunity to outline areas they believe can make an immediate impact benefiting the people and the community of the Ellenville/Wawarsing area.”
Ulster County is slated to get $1 million from the state to offset any
casino impact from neighboring counties since the Nevele resort/casino
proposal was not chosen by Albany officials.
The only one in the area selected was the Empire Resorts proposal in Sullivan County.
