Two men arrested following drug transaction

KINGSTON – Two men are in the Ulster County Jail without bail following an incident in the Town of Hurley on Tuesday.
Members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team were investigating drug activity in West Hurley when the approached two vehicles in the parking lot of 295 Route 375 in Hurley as the occupants were conducting a heroin transaction.
As detectives approached both vehicles on foot, the two drivers put them into reverse and sped toward them One vehicle, a Ford Ranger, sped toward a member, causing him to jump out of the way before the truck fled. The other vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, attempted to strike several officers and one officer became entangled in the vehicle as it spun around at a high rate of speed through the parking lot and then struck a tree.
The driver of the Ford, Kevin Hunter, Jr., 36, of Woodstock, was located in the vehicle about 10 minutes later by a State Police patrol. He is also in the county jail on charges of felony reckless endangerment, as well as loitering, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, reckless driving and several traffic violations.
The driver of the Toyota, Sean Kevin Moorhus, 40, of Saugerties, tried to flee from the vehicle but was taken into custody as he continued to resist arrest and fight with officers. He was treated at Kingston Hospital for injuries and then transported to the Ulster County Jail.  He is charged with felony drug possession – heroin, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both as felonies, loitering, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, driving while ability impaired, reckless driving and several traffic violations.
Members of URGENT received minor injuries.
