Neuhaus and Miller
GOSHEN – Orange County Mental Health Commissioner Darcie Miller was confirmed on Friday by the county legislature as the new commissioner of the Department of Social Services. She will also serve as acting mental health commissioner for up to 18 months.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus nominated Miller to run both departments.
“She is one of the people I depended on very heavily over the last year for a number of different emergencies that the public needed for mental health,” he said.
Neuhaus said the county will save about $130,000 while formal consolidation of the departments of social services and mental health is explored.
