NEW YORK – Federal authorities charged
a Middletown man who is a Triborough Bridge and Tunnel officer with conspiring
to distribute kilogram quantities of Ethylone, a substance similar to
Butylone. Ethylone is similar to MDEA, also known as “eve,”
MDMA, Molly or ecstasy.
Bey Dominick, 43, was arrested on Thursday.
According to federal authorities, in October 2014, police intercepted and seized a parcel at JFK Airport that originated from Shanghai, China and contained one kilogram of Ethylone. It was addressed to a business at a UPS store mailbox in Newburgh. A man using the name “Ali Smith” had rented the mailbox using a fake New York driver’s license with a photo of Dominick. An employee at the store identified Dominick as the man who picked up the package and signed “Ali Smith.”
From October 2013 to August 2014, an individual or individuals using the names “Bey Dominick,” “Dominick Beq,” and “Ali Smith” sent more than $29,000 in Western Union wire transfers from the US to banks in China.
A person using the name “Ali Smith” and a fake driver’s license also rented a mailbox from another UPS store in New Windsor from January through December 2014, and approximately 17 packages from China were delivered there.
This January, law enforcement learned that a package was in transit from China to the New Windsor mailbox, and armed with a search warrant, authorities found it contained one kilogram of Ethylone.
Authorities placed the store under surveillance and arrested Dominick
as he signed for the package and was leaving the store. At the time of
his arrest, he had a police badge and a firearm.  He was charged
with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute narcotics,
which carries up to 20 years in prison.
