KINGSTON – The Ulster County Legislature voted Thursday evening to authorize construction of a tribute to the county’s veterans.
The memorial will be erected on the front lawn of the County Office Building in Kingston, said Legislature Chairman John Parete.
The memorial would be to honor the fallen veterans and warriors of the county. He said the goal is to have it constructed by Memorial Day to “let their families and history recognize that we appreciate their effort.”
The $130,000 cost of the tribute will come from the county executive’s budget, Parete said.
The reason for a special meeting for the vote was to ensure it could be built by the end of May, the chairman said.
