KINGSTON – A hamlet of Wallkill man was found guilty in Ulster County Court on Friday in connection with a residential break-in at a Town of Shawangunk residence.
Jesse Soyka-Hutting, 21, was convicted of burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the 2013 crime.   When sentenced in March, he faces up to 15 years in state prison.
Soyka-Hutting and an accomplice were charged with breaking into the home and stealing a guitar, guitar amplifier, shotgun and iPod radio, among other items.
He was found to have sold the stolen shotgun to a coworker.
When interviewed by police, Soyka-Hutting first denied going into the home, but when confronted with the fact that he sold the shotgun and that some of the homeowner’s property was found in his possession, he admitted going into the home, but he maintained it was only to use the bathroom.
