TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE — Police continue
to investigate a one-car fatal crash that occurred just before 7 a.m.
Sunday at the intersection of East Cedar Street and Violet Avenue in the
Town of Poughkeepsie.
Police said the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed and ran
into a wooded area striking a tree. The vehicle then caught fire.
The driver, whose name police did not immediately release, was the sole
occupant in the vehicle.
Town of Poughkeepsie Police were assisted at the scene by the Fairview
Fire Department, Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office, State
Department of Transportation and town highway department.
