New undersheriff appointed in Ulster County

KINGSTON – Ulster County Undersheriff Frank Faluotico, Jr. is retiring and Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum has named a 34-year veteran of the department as his successor.
Captain Michael Freer joined the department in May 1981 as a deputy sheriff from the first civil service list for the position in the county. He was promoted to sergeant in 1986 and to lieutenant in 2000. He was named captain of police services in 2007.
Freer is a graduate of New Paltz High School, holds a BS degree in criminal science from Marist College and an MS in criminal justice from Brown University.
