David L. Burke, a lifelong Beacon resident, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 23, 2024, at the Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY; at the age of 87. He was born on September 14, 1936 in Beacon, NY, son of the late Leo & Alma (Conklin) Burke; from the age of 4 until his passing, he lived in the same home on Anderson Street. He attended Beacon City Schools, and graduated from Beacon High School.

David served in the United States Navy from 1959 to1963 during the Vietnam Era and received an honorable discharge for his service.

He was a 50-year Life-Member of the Willard H. Mase Hook & Ladder #1 Fire Company of Beacon.

On October 28, 1979, at the Garrison Country Club in Garrison, NY, he married Elonora Ruth Constable, who survives at home.

David worked for over 30-years at IBM, starting in Poughkeepsie and later in East Fishkill, NY; he worked several assignments while with IBM, upon his retirement he was a facility coordinator.

He was an avid gardener, he loved woodworking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting & skiing. He also was an avid reader, enjoyed old western books.

Along with his beloved wife of 44-years Elonora Burke, David is survived by his two-stepsons: Glenn Fredericks and Gary (Michele) Fredericks; his 4 grandchildren, Makenna & Bailey Fredericks, and Elias & Adele Fredericks. His surrogate grandchildren, whom he thought the world of too, Abby, Claire, London, and Bailey Shea. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara Serino and Alma Burke, and several nieces & nephews.

Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his three sisters.

His Family will gather privately to Remember & Honor His Life with prayers and military honors from the United States Navy Honor Guard. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon, New York.
