HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Andrew S. Fischer, Sr., 84, an area resident for the last 3 years, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.

He previously lived in Hobart, New York. Born on October 26, 1939, in Yonkers NY, Andrew was the son of the late Andrew and Emma (Pavlovsky) Fischer. He proudly served in the United State Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Andrew retired as a Sergeant from the Town of Eastchester Police Department (Westchester County) in 1987 after 23 years of dedicated service. An avid outdoorsman, Andrew enjoyed hunting, reloading and anything to do with his firearm collection and memorabilia. He loved traveling and was proud to have visited 48 of the 50 States on many of his family summer vacations.

On April 8, 1989, in Walton New York, he married Judith (Pudney) Fischer, who survives him at home. He is also survived by his children: Andrew S. Fischer Jr., wife Tammy and granddaughter Kayla of Leland NC; Eric W. Fischer, wife June and grandchildren Alexandra, Robert and Scott E and step-grandsons Francesco and Anthony all of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Patricia L. Fischer and husband Richard, grandsons Adam and Tyler of New Fairfield Ct.; stepson Calvin, wife Deborah Puffer and step-grandchildren John, wife Samantha, Hannah and Casey; stepdaughter Bambi Walters of California and step-grandchildren Kevin and Kimberly; nephews Michael Reilly, Matthew, wife Amanda Reilly and Craig, wife Jesse Reilly and numerous great nieces and nephews, Godchildren and many, many friends. In addition to his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his beloved sister, Brenda Reilly. Andrew will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5p-9p at McHoul’s Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10am followed by inurnment at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at 1130 am.
