TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town Supervisor Jay Baisley has announced that the town has received a grant from DEC to purchase a new hydro-excavating truck.

The town received a $310,000 New York State DEC Grant. This grant was used to purchase a New 2021 International Flush Vactor truck which costs $414,000. The truck will be replacing a 1999 International Vactor Truck.

The new truck will be used as part of the town’s Municipal separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. The truck will improve water quality by removing sediment and other pollutants that would otherwise enter water bodies via the stormwater sewer system.

The truck will also be used for hydro-excavation of underground pipes, trenches, and vaults making it a safer work environment and less chance of damage to underground utilities, according to Baisley.
