PORT JERVIS – Driving into or out of the City of Port Jervis over the Neversink River has been a nightmare at times as construction continues on a new bridge.

Mayor Kelly Decker now says there is light at the end of the tunnel with construction to be concluded by Christmas.

“The traffic in Tri-States will get better now once the bridge opens. They are telling us that they have until the end of the year into the beginning of January just with things to finish off, but primarily except for the top coat of blacktop and some plantings, everything else should be essentially done with everything else in the springtime,” he said.

Decker said while the project is scheduled to be finished by August, it should be completed much earlier in 2020.
