KINGSTON – Former Town of Marbletown Supervisor Thomas Jackson is officially Ulster County’s new Public Works commissioner. He was unanimously confirmed by the county legislature during a brief monthly meeting Tuesday night.
Legislator Richard Parete, whose district includes Marbletown, spoke highly of him.
“Tom has always stood above and beyond any elected official that I have ever worked with or dealt with and I know he’s going to do a great job in the county like he does everywhere he works and goes, and, good luck Tom,” Parete said.
Legislature Chairman Kenneth Ronk noted Jackson has been on the job since being appointed by County Executive Michael Hein in July.
“He’s been on the job already, doing an excellent job and from everything I know about him and have heard about him, we can expect great things from him at public works,” Ronk said.
Jackson will oversee a department of 200 workers and an infrastructure of 423 road miles and 158 bridges.
