MID-HUDSON – Power was disrupted for hours Monday night in at least two Orange County areas as sleet and freezing rain fell along with strong, gusty winds.
About 1,800 customers of Orange and Rockland Utilities lost power in the Silver Lake-Scotchtown Road/Mud Mills Road area of the Town of Wallkill when a transformer exploded, causing power lines to catch fire and fall down.  In Central Hudson territory in the Angola and Mine Hill Road area of Cornwall, some 200 customers lost power.
There were also several motor vehicle incidents across the Mid-Hudson as a result of the very slippery road conditions.
The weather continues to cause problems this morning, including some school disruptions.  Several districts had announced closure as of 6:00 this morning.  Others are on delay.  Check with your own school district.
