FISHKILL – A Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress report suggests the Town and Village of Fishkill share one headquarters as a cost-saving measure.
Village Mayor James Miccio does not support the idea of moving the police station to the town.
“To me it would be counter-productive to have the village police outside the village. Part of what we want is a police presence as have a fairly newly renovated building that we are in and it is not conducive for anything else than for a municipal building. It would be another burden if we weren’t using it,” he said.
Miccio said he would entertain discussions with the town and Beacon City Police about centralized purchasing of weapons, ammunition, fuel depot and bulletproof vests. The three departments could also consider jointly applying for grants, he said.
