KINGSTON – Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency Executive Director Timothy DeGraff wants to return to his previous position as agency controller citing “there are just not enough hours in the day to fulfill both of my job duties as executive director and controller.”

Given his decision, the agency board of directors is finalizing a plan to allow that with DeGraff assuming additional duties and the title of director of finance and administration.

He will remain on as acting executive director until a new person is named to fill the position.

The new executive director will be tasked with overseeing development and implementation of comprehensive sold waste management policies that will maximize diversion of usable items such as organic and recyclable materials, process more household hazardous waste, and minimize the amount that must be trucked to a landfill.

Currently, the UCRRA is trucking solid waste some 240 miles to the Seneca Meadows landfill, which is scheduled to shut down in the next few years.
