Dear Editor:

What’s right for Newburgh isn’t just one political party or the other. What’s right for Newburgh is Christina Amato.

As a registered Independent, I vote based on who’s the best candidate for the job, not party affiliation. If we are to overcome our serious challenges, more of us need to start thinking this way.

As a lifelong resident of the City of Newburgh, I feel the pressure of rising costs of living in this area. Christina’s success running a business has taught her how to make the right fiscal choices. I want Christina to be my voice on the City Council because she is competent to advise city finances. We can’t keep raising water and garbage fees to make ends meet and force people to move. She understands that owners and renters alike are suffering from the city’s inability to grow the tax base. She also truly cares about improving the quality of life on our streets and in our parks.

Christina knows Newburgh’s history and can make informed decisions to stop repeating the mistakes of the past.

Sincerely,

Johanna Porr Yaun
Newburgh, NY
