The New York State Cannabis Control Board this week voted to waive licensing fees for two years for Adult-Use Conditional Cultivators.

ALBANY – Following a slow rollout of the state’s recreational cannabis market, Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that thus far in 2024, more than 400 licenses have been issued throughout the state.  The new licenses come at a time when many lawmakers are making a renewed push against the elicit cannabis market and seek new enforcement measures against illegal operators.

“With the Cannabis Control Board’s issuance of 101 adult-use cannabis licenses, New York’s legal cannabis industry continues to make significant progress with over 400 licenses issued in 2024,” said Hochul.

The state’s Office of Cannabis Management also now has the ability to issue provisional adult-use cannabis licenses.  Regulators say this will provide provisional license holders with opportunities to begin operations while adhering to regulatory requirements.

“Strengthening New York’s equitable cannabis industry and ensuring the hard-working small business owners operating in the legal market have the licenses to open are the best way to protect the integrity of sales in New York,” said Hochul.
