MID-HUDSON– Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff and Orange County Sheriff Paul Arteta said their offices are closely monitoring the situation in Israel and remain in close contact with our federal, state, local and community partners.”

Schiff said as has been their practice since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel, “increased vigilance and law enforcement presence will be exercised throughout Sullivan County.”

As developing information on the activity in the Middle East continues to increase and our area becomes more active, Sheriff Arteta would like to remind residents of the importance of staying observant, being aware of their surroundings, and making appropriate notifications.

He said the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will continue to remain vigilant and work with our federal, state, and local partners to share information and conduct investigations. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to 911.

Sheriff Schiff echoed the same sentiments. “Due to the role of the United States in world politics, every community, regardless of religion, should practice a heightened state of awareness.”

The old slogan still applies, “if you see something, say something,” both law enforcement officials said.

Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to 911.
