CARMEL – Putnam’s semi-annual Passport Day was one of the most successful in recent years. County Clerk Michael Bartolotti and his staff Saturday provided passport information to local residents as well as accepted 87 passport applications.

During the pandemic the event was held by appointment only, with just applicants and necessary parents or guardians permitted to enter the office. Bartolotti said the plan “worked like a charm so we decided to continue the procedure since there was no back up and those seeking a passport knew what time to arrive.”

Ed Johnston and his wife Marianne from Putnam Valley took advantage of the appointment plan. “I can’t get over how smooth this application process was,” said Johnston, a retired Putnam District Attorney investigator.”

For those who missed the day, information on how to apply for a passport is available on the county clerk’s website at www.putnamcountyny.gov/county-clerk or by phoning 845-808-1142, ext. 49301.
