POUGHKEEPSIE – Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation has a new president. The Board of Directors has appointed Stephanie Raymond effective immediately. She will serve as president until Christopher Capone’s retirement in October, at which time she will assume both roles of president and CEO.

She comes to the area utility having served as president of PPL Electric Utilities Corporation serving 1.4 million customers in 29 counties in eastern and central Pennsylvania.

Capone worked with Central Hudson for some 2 ½ decades. “In early 2023, Chris agreed to delay his planned retirement to assume the role of CEO, with a focus on further stabilizing the company’s billing system,” said Margarita Dilley, chairwoman of the utility’s board of directors. “Under his leadership, the company strengthened the customer service and outreach to important community stakeholders.”

She said there is more work ahead,” said Dilley.

Raymond said she is “deeply committed to our customers (and) eager to cultivate meaningful partnerships with our dedicated employees, valued customers, regulatory bodies, elected officials and local communities in the coming months.”

“Hudson Valley families deserve a utility company that delivers dependable service and transparently deals with billing disputes without gouging customers. I look forward to meeting with Ms. Raymond in short order to ensure customer service and rebuilding public trust are her absolute top priorities,” said Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18).
