Suspected drug dealer Tyrone Moye

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 37-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges when members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at his Main Street apartment.  Tyrone Moye was the subject of a months-long investigation into drug sales in the area of Main and South Clinton Streets.

According to Dutchess County Drug Task Force Coordinator, Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, task force agents raided Moye’s residence in the Governor Clinton Apartments on Wednesday morning and seized “a significant quantity” of fentanyl, crack cocaine, a handgun, handgun ammunition, and rifle ammunition and Moye was taken into custody.

“We respond to complaints and tips regarding illegal drug activity such as this operation.  Our agents were able to remove a large amount of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs from the streets of Poughkeepsie after tips from the public triggered and investigation,” Harris said.

Moye has been charged with four felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and was being held at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office pending arraignment.  There is a possibility of additional charges to be filed against Moye.

Harris noted that his agents were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office ESU, K9, and Unmanned Aircraft Units, along with officers from the City of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park police departments.

Detective Sergeant Harris is encouraging the public to remain involved in making the community a safer place.  If you think that someone is selling illegal drugs, you can call the Dutchess County Drug Task Force confidential tip line at 845-463-6040 or email the tip to DrugTaskForceTips@gmail.com.
