KINGSTON – The state is scheduled to receive more than $664 million in federal funding to expand high-speed broadband infrastructure.  Locations that have been officially designated as unserved or underserved will be eligible for this funding and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger is encouraging residents across the county to review and comment on the maps to ensure gaps that exist can be addressed.

“We want to make sure our residents have all the tools they need to succeed, and that includes access to high-speed internet,” said  Metzger.  “The COVID-19 pandemic brought into sharp focus how much internet access has become a basic necessity — for school, for work, for health and safety, for social connection. Every resident in our community should have affordable access to this service.”
