DUTCHESS COUNTY – Heritage Financial Park will be the site of a season-long celebration of the Hudson Valley Renegades who began playing in the former Dutchess Stadium in 1994.  The Renegades are now the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, with uniforms of blue and white, but the celebration includes a throwback to the former green and burgundy colors worn by the players thirty years ago.

Former Dutchess County Legislator Pat Manning is credited by many as the man who brought professional baseball to Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley. “I looked to build then Dutchess Stadium and invite the Renegades to Dutchess at a low point in our county’s history; the historic layoffs at IBM had rocked our belief system that we would always be successful,” Manning said.  “I believed we needed to show new businesses and new families who would be looking at Dutchess County that quality of life was paramount and affordable, safe family fun was available to them through the team. Thirty years and generations later we have seen the fruits of those who helped me in the beginning come to harvest. I can’t see a Dutchess County without the Renegades. They are a member of our family.”

Hudson Valley Renegades Director of Public Relations, Joe Vasile, spent a few minutes with Mid-Hudson News on Friday talking about what fans can expect for the 30th-anniversary celebrations at the stadium.  There will be giveaways every Saturday night that reflect the past Renegades and a “Throwback Saturday” commemorating the Renegades from 1994-1999 is scheduled for April 20, 2024.
