POUGHKEEPSIE – More than 3,000 ticket holders converged on the MJN Convention Center for a Monday night concert that featured Irish-themed, Boston-based Dropkick Murphys as the headliner.  The band has a loyal following and attendees traveled from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont, to attend the high-energy show that had three bands performing, with Dropkick Murphys enticing the crowd to jump, sing, and have fun as they performed for just over two hours.

The fans came to enjoy an energetic show with Irish-themed music in advance of St. Patrick’s Day, said MJN Center President Zeidan Nesheiwat.  “Many of the attendees arrived early for drinks and dinner at local restaurants including Tavern 23 before coming through our doors,” he said.  “We bring shows with high-volume ticket sales to Poughkeepsie because we are trying to help the city.  We want our visitors to spend money in the city with drinks and dinner at the great restaurants before they come here for the show.”

Guests at the show also had the opportunity to sample beers from local breweries while dancing for hours.  “Our visitors were able to enjoy local craft beers and enjoy great music while our staff made the MJN shine,” Nesheiwat said.  “Dutchess County has a lot to be proud of and our goal is to make sure Poughkeepsie and the county shine with entertainment and lodging for out-of-town guests.”  We are part of this community and are working to help all of our fellow businesses,” Nesheiwat said.
