Single-family home prices rise due to limited supply, says realtors’ group

WHITE PLAINS – January home sales in the region continued to decline in January while prices rose in most areas, according to information from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. The group says a limited supply and strong demand are responsible for the current market conditions.

In Westchester, the median sales price for a single-family home increased 5.4 percent to $858,250.

In Putnam County, the median price increased by just over 11 percent to $500,000.

Rockland County saw prices rise by just over 11 percent to $700,000.

In Orange County, single-family home prices increased by 6.0 percent rising to $434,300.

In Sullivan County, median prices rose by 5.2 percent to $272,500.

In all counties, the number of available listings dropped.

In Westchester, single-family inventory fell by almost 30 percent. In Putnam, inventory declined by more than 18 percent.

Rockland County saw inventory fall by over 81 percent, while in Orange County, it fell by 20 percent, and in Sullivan, it decreased by almost 10 percent.
