KINGSTON – Kingston Mayor Steven Noble has signed a sister city partnership agreement with Vasyl Kozak, mayor of the City of Sokyryany, Ukraine.

With the pact, the two cities pledged to work mutually beneficial exchanges that will strengthen the culture, society, and economies and, as partners, will make every effort to promote peace and international understanding.

Sokyryany currently has 1,700 of its citizens fighting the war against Russia, and has lost 97 lives in the war effort to date.

Noble said the City of Kingston stands ready to assist and support Sokyryany in its war recovery and future endeavors.

The two mayors convened via translators, in a zoom meeting last week.
