HYDE PARK – Hyde Park Police arrested a suspect in a knifepoint robbery that occurred at the Golden Manor Hotel on Thursday.  Town police were alerted to the crime after being contacted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police that afternoon.

Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson says that his agency was contacted by the city cops who indicated they had a man at their department claimed to have been robbed at knifepoint at the Golden Manor Hotel at 4100 Albany Post Road (Route 9) in Hyde Park.  Poughkeepsie police also stated that they had a male suspect in custody for possession of stolen property who was possibly connected to the Hyde Park crime.

Hyde Park detectives investigated the information and confirmed that the robbery had occurred earlier in the day on February 22.

According to Benson, the suspect, Joseph Navarro, 30, forcibly stole multiple items from the victim, without injury.  Hyde Park detectives responded to the city police headquarters, took Navarro into custody, and returned him to Hyde Park where he was arrested on the charges of felony robbery and the misdemeanors of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Navarro was arraigned before Hyde Park Town Justice Jean McArthur and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bond, or $60,000 partially-secured bond.

Navarro is due back in court on February 26.
