BRIARCLIFF MANOR- SPCA Westchester is proud to announce open registration for its widely sought-after Camp Critter program.  This hands-on, pet-centric camp is for school-age children entering 1st through 6th grades who want to learn more about the compassionate world of animal care and rescue.  The first session of Camp Critter will take place February 19- 23 during the local school district’s winter break.

Children will experience heartwarming encounters with SPCA animals, learn dog and cat care basics, and engage in creative exploration through interactive workshops, arts and crafts, storytelling and games.  Campers will be expertly guided by trained staff and dedicated volunteers.  Space is limited due to the unique nature of activities, but multiple sessions throughout the spring and summer are now open for registration.
Many of the SPCA’s outreach programs were affected by the pandemic, including Camp Critter, and are now being relaunched and centered around its state-of-the-art Rescue Center which was rebuilt in July 2021.
“We are thrilled to bring this programming back to our community.  Humane education is a pillar of our mission and teaching young people how to properly care for companion dogs and cats is fundamental to reaching the next generation of animal advocates,” says Executive Director, Shannon Laukhuf.
