WEST NYACK- A $46.7 million capital project at Rockland BOCES is set to go to the public in a referendum vote scheduled for March 6th.  BOCES officials hope to obtain approval to construct a new, 52,000-square-foot, two-story building that would house current and future Career and Technical Education and STEM programs.

According to BOCES, enrollment in programs is on the rise and there is a need for additional space.  The proposed project includes new culinary arts commercial kitchens and classroom space, fifteen STEM classrooms, and a new cafeteria and gymnasium.

The average cost of the project equates to $2.36 per property per month, based on a $500,000 property assessment.

Residents of Rockland County over the age of 18 are eligible to vote.  Voters may cast their ballot on March 6, 2024, between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Rockland BOCES Jesse J. Kaplan School located at 65 Parrott Road in West Nyack. The voting will take place in building 9.

If approved, BOCES officials anticipate that construction will begin in Spring 2026 and be completed by Fall 2027.
