POUGHKEEPSIE – The 2024 Fishkill Polar Plunge to benefit the athletes of the New York Special Olympics is taking place at the Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill on February 17, 2024.  Mid-Hudson News reporter Todd Bender and Q92 FM’s Chris Marino and Felicia met on Tuesday to discuss training for the 26th annual “Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge”.

The weather changes from year to year, with some past events requiring ice to be cut off the lake with chainsaws before the participants could jump.  In other years, the temperature has been unseasonably warm.  The forecast is still undecided for this year’s event.

Chris Marino is taking no chances in advance of his 15th annual jump.  His suggestion is to “Be the Ice” as he demonstrated to Mid-Hudson News in the studio.

There are still spots available for those seeking to jump into a lake in February and there are even more opportunities to donate to the New York Special Olympics while staying warm and dry.
