BEDFORD – Thirty-five-year-old Nicole “Nikki” Addimando was paroled from Bedford Hills State Correctional Facility on Thursday, January 4, 2024.  In February 2020, in a case that drew national attention to the documented case of domestic violence, Addimando was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison for murdering her partner, Christopher Grover in their Town of Poughkeepsie residence in September 2017.

Addimando had claimed she shot Grover to death in an attempt to end the cycle of domestic violence to which Grover subjected her.  Addimando’s attorneys appealed the sentence and the court reduced the sentence to seven-and-a-half years in prison.  The reduced sentence used the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act as the sentencing guideline, which was not used in the Dutchess County Court trial. The reduced sentence allowed for her total time of incarceration to be included in determining her release date.

Addimando had been incarcerated since 2017 between the pre-trial time, and the time of trial, before being sent to state prison.

Addimando, a mother of two, was reunited with her children outside of the prison in Westchester where she had been confined.  She will now be responsible for following the post-release supervision guidelines determined by the New York State Parole Office.
