PORT JERVIS — Newly sworn in Port Jervis Mayor Dominic Cicalese pledged to work tirelessly and collaboratively as the city embarks on a new chapter of leadership and what he sees as a pivotal moment in history.

The 42-year-old Cicalese, the city’s 28th mayor, told a standing room crowd at Port’s January 1st oath of office ceremony that he views the city’s path forward as one of progress, harmony, and resilience.

“With your support, we will turn challenges into triumphs.  Our shared vision will guide us towards a brighter future where every voice is heard and every member of our community is valued,” Cicalese said.  “Together we will continue to build a city that thrives on progress and compassion.  We must continue to move our city forward.”

Cicalese, who is a professional firefighter in the City of Middletown, said he plans to “listen, learn, and lead with integrity and respect,” and foremost, the well-being of our citizens takes precedence.

The new mayor Cicalese follows 10 years of leadership by Kelly Decker, who chose not to run for re-election this past fall.
