MONTICELLO- Officials in Sullivan County are searching for farmers and agri-businesspeople who live in the county to serve on its Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board (AFPB).

The AFPB is seeking three new members.  One member must be an active farmer, one can be an active farmer or another agricultural stakeholder from an organization dedicated to agricultural land preservation, and one must have a role in agri-business.

Board members serve a four-year term, and are appointed by the county legislature.  The AFPB meets quarterly, and the county will be updating their Agriculture and Farmland Protection Plan in 2024.  A primary role of the board will be to oversee the development and implementation of the plan.

Interested parties should send a letter of interest and statement of qualifications to the clerk of the legislature at annmarie.martin@sullivanny.us by December 29, 2023.
