HUDSON VALLEY- Family Services proudly announces that its CEO, Leah Feldman, has been awarded the prestigious Athena Award by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.  This award recognizes leaders who embody the Athena Leadership Model, emphasizing strong leadership traits exemplified in women, such as collaboration, courage, and advocacy.

Throughout her tenure at Family Services, Feldman has passionately focused on combating domestic violence, embodying her commitment to the organization’s mission.  Her role has been pivotal in elevating the agency’s impact in the Hudson Valley, from her initial position as a Victim Advocate to her leadership as CEO.

Feldman’s dedication extends beyond her professional responsibilities. She co-founded “The Brave Project,” a program that addresses real-life issues faced by young girls, such as cyberbullying, building healthy relationships, and self-defense.  This initiative not only empowers young girls with essential life skills but also fosters leadership qualities, reflecting Leah’s holistic approach to serving her community.

Feldman’s commitment to these causes and her recent 50-mile fundraising run for Family Services, showcases. her dedication to raising awareness and funds for the organization.  This event, which took place on the scenic trails of Ulster and Dutchess Counties, not only highlighted her personal commitment to the cause, but raised over $50,000 that will be directly used to fund Family Service programs.

The receipt of the Athena Award is a testament to her exceptional leadership, her impact on the community, and her dedication to improving the lives of others, especially in advocating for and empowering women and girls.

We congratulate Leah Feldman and all the remarkable women receiving this recognition on their well-deserved honor and look forward to their continued leadership and impacts.

A ceremony and celebration of all nine 2023 Athena Award honorees took place on Wednesday, November 29, 2o23, at the Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls.
